The role of Obstetrician Gynaecologist is demanding and multifaceted regardless of which country it is performed in.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of providing Women’s Healthcare both in the United States and New Zealand and while the medicine is essentially the same, so many other aspects are very different.
Private Gynaecology here in Auckland has been very rewarding and I've enjoyed bringing some services to my patients that they don't usually get in a system where access to me as a specialist is more tightly gatekept by GPs than it is in the US.
My passion for increasing health literacy and empowering women through education of their bodies has been given an avenue through my social media education pages.
Middlemore Hospital has given me the opportunity to care for a diverse demographic of patients, has inspired and facilitated me to stay at the top of my medical and surgical game and has provided me with colleagues that are a pleasure to work alongside.
In June, I will be embarking on another professional challenge. I will be adding the role of Clinical Lead of Obstetrics to the obstetrics and gynaecology care I currently provide.
I hope to serve the Wahine of South Auckland well in this role, advocating for them as well as the incredible people who care for them.
