Yesterday was a day of reclaiming my peace and joy after a week filled with anger and frustration and sadness about the atrocities taking place in the US.
After taking the kids to swim classes in the morning and having lunch, I went to my happy place. The beach.
Then, I went to dinner with my group of Black women doctors/professionals. We have decided to make this a monthly event, so this was our second time. We had dinner overlooking the city of Auckland and the colorful Harbor Bridge. I tried to take pictures and video of the light show but wasn't very successful.
Then, I met up with one of my colleagues whom I'd asked to come with me once I found out about a place to salsa dance.
When I say I was in heaven! I finally got to salsa dance (and Bachata) again for the first time in at least 3 years. And I got to speak Spanish again for the first time since leaving the US. A live band, nice people, great dance partners. What more could a girl want!

My master plan of adding back to the richness of my life all the things that bring me joy and excitement is coming along nicely. Today has helped this empath mind to look at the present and the right in front of me and tip my scales back to balance again. I will continue to pray for the woes of the world and do my part to make it better, but I will do better to not let that take away the joy in mine.
It helps no one if you sacrifice your joy because others are suffering
