Sydney

In July I went to Sydney Australia for a medical symposium. I love every opportunity to increase my understanding of aspects of my specialty that I may have become less familiar with over time. Once again, this learning and collaboration with my peers would not have been possible without the generous time and money invested into every physician for professional development. One of my good friends flew in from Melbourne to attend the symposium as well so it was a nice trip for many reasons.

I flew in a couple days early and was able to enjoy some rejuvenation and exploration. A deep tissue massage and facial with a view was very much welcomed. I was able to watch the weekly fireworks show at Darling Harbour. The kids were able to watch it live with me via a video call.

I also challenged myself by taking a 3hr e-bike tour of Sydney. I hadn't been bike riding in a relatively long time and had never used an e-bike before, but it was so much fun. It was a beautiful Sunday morning. I got to see so much. The famous Sydney opera house, water views and we also rode under and on the famous Harbour bridge. We rode through different neighborhoods and saw beautiful architecture. It was a perfect mix of exercise, entertainment and education. Our guides were lovely.

It was a surreal trip. I felt so fortunate to be able to have the freedom to learn and grow and make personal and professional connections, while having the time to take a breath, reflect and recharge. During that time my dear grandmother's health was declining and I was on video calls with her often. So many emotions packed into a few days.

I didn't dare attempt to meander in between cars and people on the bike one handed while recording all the sights. This was the only video I managed to get. It really does not do the view justice.
