When we became a Fellow of ACOG (the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists), we weren't given a moment to be recognized for the effort it took to get to that point. I was so relieved that my written and oral boards were over and so busy working, that if I was invited to such an event, I was not aware of it and I don't remember seeing any of my collegues posting about them attending such an event. This past weekend, my family and I drove south to Rotorua for the robing ceremony. The ceremony started by recognizing the indigenous peoples of the Australian land on which RANZCOG (the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) was established and Maori greetings and closings were seamlessly incorporated, as is the custom here. The closing song we sang, Te Aroha, I learned in my community choir. I feel honored to be a part of RANZCOG and to have been elevated to Fellow.
