I wish I had on me, the picture of Randy 16 years ago, helping me take out my braids. It is in a photo album on its way across the Pacific ocean. I promise to post it when my shipping container arrives.
Well, here I am relying on Randy's help once again. As I talked about in my Vlog post about planning ahead to care for Black hair in New Zealand, today was the day to do a relaxer touch-up without the help of my stylist.
I have to publicly thank Angela Holmes for guiding me with purchasing all the products and supplies. She even let us record her relaxing my hair so that we could look at it when it was our turn.
Without even asking I knew that Randy would be happy to help me. He was amazing as usual. We sent Angie the photos and she was impressed. (EDITED TO ADD: Yesterday was the first time that Randy saw the video of Angela relaxing my hair)
Overall, I think it turned out pretty well. There are a couple things we are going to try next time to get my roots even straighter, but overall, not bad for our first go.
Eventually I will explore Auckland and see if I could find a stylist here, but in the mean time, I think I am in good hands.
