Growth Spurts and Hand Me Downs

I have not been able to keep up with the speed at which my children's bodies are evolving over the past year. Some of them are no longer the little prepubescent creatures with the higher pitched voices but now figures towering over me or constantly measuring themselves up against me, vying for their turn to surpass my height next. Voices are deeper, ambitions even higher, but hugs and kisses are still abundant.
The shoe sizes have grown in leaps and bounds and the garage is filled with shoes and clothes that only got a few months or sometimes only a few weeks of glory before being rendered too small, too tight, obsolete. Sorting clothes has become confusing since sometimes I can't tell which tops are Micah's and which are Randy's
Kai (9 years old) has come into his own, enjoying school, making friends, and gaining confidence in his ability to learn, complete his tasks, and make good choices. Makayla will be 12 next month. She continues to be very social and great with schoolwork. She's back in competitive soccer, doing all the sports and activities at school and setting her sights for leadership roles in her class. Micah is now almost 15years old- navigating the path of figuring out one's identity, excelling in school, doing badminton and violin, and taking on more responsibilities. I think he is catching back the soccer bug that he had years ago. It's been interesting to watch him as he tries to figure out how to move in bigger feet, taller stature, and what to do with all the new muscles he's been gaining. His siblings are also trying to get used to his booming voice as it carries through the house lol. This Easter weekend, Micah and Makayla each went away for a few days to their respective church camps.
Everyone is still in regular swim lessons and this coming school holiday, they will all be in soccer camps.
Each stage of parenting comes with its own set of challenges, and Randy and I are doing everything we can to make sure that we are up to the task.

<--------- Clothes that Micah wore when we first moved to Aotearoa just under 3 years ago are now fitting Kai, which is remarkable because Micah was about 11 years old when we moved and Kai is now only 9.

The bottom line is, the kids are not only still OK, but they are still growing in body and in character.
The kids are Still OK.
