The struggle is real, but my husband makes me proud!

I am at work on my 24hr shift and Randy and the kids have been busy most of the day sorting out the kids' clothing. Three fast growing children whose clothes were sorted out 2-3 months ago, have to have their wardrobes reevaluated closer to move time. I was encouraged by the physician moms who have already made the move to NZ to bring as many clothes in some larger sizes for the kids as we could ship so that we don't have to worry about that for a while after we get there.

Figuring out who is out of which type of clothes so we know what to pack in suitcases that have finite space and weight restrictions, and how much sized- up clothing to purchase to pack on the shipping container is not left to guesswork by my husband.

My former database analyst with a Masters degree in Math and Statistics is doing what he does best. When I was deciding which residency programs to apply to, he made me a spreadsheet with a list of all of the wants and dislikes that included region, class size, surgical training, diversity, pay etc. It helped me to decide where to apply and then how to rank the programs that I interviewed in. (Side note: Randy drew a line on the map of the USA and declared that we would not be applying to any program South of a certain latitude as a multiracial couple planning on having multiracial children. Years of living in the South after moving to the US from Australia gave him the perspective that caused him to make that a high priority on the spreadsheet. I have always loved him for that.)

My friends often ask me how we have been able to navigate through the logistics behemoth of uprooting the lives of five people and preparing to move to a different country.

As I always used to tell my often disorganized little brother when in gradeschool- Organization is the Key to Success!!!

It doesn't surprise me that another spreadsheet has been generated that will help us to most strategically shop for clothing without overspending.

I just want to take a minute to brag on my husband. He is truly the real MVP. His multi faceted talents have made so many things that we have accomplished possible and easier.
